What is a CN95 Mask?

What is CN5 Mask?

On March 11, 2020, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO’s Director-General, declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic, and then history happened. Things that we thought were negligible years ago are now essential. These things include face shields, hand sanitizers, alcohol, and face masks. Nevertheless, have you ever wondered if the type of mask matters? Here, we dive into popular face coverings and then deeper into one in particular: a CN95 mask.

The Type of Masks Matter

According to the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research, generally, there are at least three different face masks in the market today. You have cloth masks, surgical masks, and respiratory masks. However, the difference between these face masks could spell out your survivability, so choosing the perfect one is of optimal need.

Cloth Masks

Let’s first talk about the all-purpose cloth mask. You may have one of these at home or in your office. These types of respirators are better than bandanas and other makeshift masks. However, these are not for the infected ones, as viruses can still go through these masks.

Therefore, you can be sure that you cannot flatten the curve with the use of these. Nevertheless, they are useful as a means to comply with city law and other rules, but as a is not compliant enough to keep you or your family safe.

Surgical Masks

The second mask is the surgical mask. These face masks basically could act as your substitute masks when you don’t have an N95 one. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, you can use these as these may still provide you with ample protection.

Surgical Masks passed some of the standard tests when it comes to keeping the wearer secure. Nevertheless, because this is a disposable mask, you should use this as minimally as possible. Although you can be sure that it has enough grades to keep you safe, remember, it’s not that high.

Respiratory Masks

Now, the last type of masks is the “xN95: mask. These masks have the number 95 on them because they can block at least 95% of small particles. With this, you can be sure that your family is safe from almost all the airborne viruses.

Nonetheless, it would be irresponsible for someone to always stand in front of a coughing man just because you’re wearing an N95 mask. However, if you are using this, you can be sure that you are safe from any non-oil-based particles, as that’s what’s the meaning of N in N95.

Furthermore, breathing can become a problem in this as its security has respirator-resistance, so you should never do jogging or exercises while using these as this may result in pneumothorax. Nevertheless, the point is, that N95 security is better compared to other masks.

What Is a CN95 Mask?

So, you’ve heard about N95 masks, but what is a CN95 respirator mask? A CN95 Mask is a Canadian-company-made mask that acts the same way as an N95 mask. However, some minor differences exist that differentiate this from other N95 respirators.

In other words, a CN95 mask is another version of an N95 one. These are both respirators and can keep 95% of non-oil-based particles. So, how do you differentiate the N95 series from other face masks in the market? Well, in the U.S., the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approves the surgical face masks.

However, the N95 has a different agency. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health accepts the N95 masks, which means that these are fit for occupational safety and health.

So, you can be sure that even working people use these and can vouch for their safety. Therefore, to make things short, the CN95 mask is just a variation of the N95 mask.

Difference between N95 versus KN95 versus CN95

As mentioned earlier, an N95 mask means that the item is a respirator. These are items that can surely keep you safe from any airborne viruses. To make things simple, we can mention that N in the word N95 means non-oil-based particles. The 95 signifies the efficiency of the respirator to block these particles, so it’s at 95%.

These particles are so small that they are around 0.3 microns. Imagine your usual fine beach sand as 90 microns in diameter. That’s how minute the particles are, and you can be sure that none of that comes into your body. Nonetheless, what’s the difference between a KN95 from the CN95 and the N95?

Since we already talked about the N95 and the CN95 mask, it’s already time to talk about the KN95. To make things simple, the KN95 is a Chinese-approved mask, which means that these are also N95, but they are made in China.

They both are 95, so you can be sure that they can catch 95% of the 0.3-micron particles, and which are all non-oil-based. However, according to Thomas Talhelm, there’s a minute difference between the N95 and KN95 masks. Such that N95 is more breathable and that the KN95 has to pass a fit test. Nonetheless, they both serve the same purpose.
